Shields set to stay for three more months

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields confirmed to The Gleaner yesterday that his contract might be extended for a period of three months by Commissioner of Police Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin.
"The commissioner has asked me to renew my contract for a period of three months to conduct some specific investigations, which I have agreed to do, and that's really it," said Shields, pointing out that a finalised agreement would depend on approval from the Police Service Commission.
Shields said, however, that he does not expect to stay with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) once the three-month extension has elapsed.
"I'm delighted to help the JCF in any way I can but I have no plans to stay beyond this period of three months," Shields said.
Shield's tenure, if the contract extension is accepted by the PSC, is set to be counted from June 1.
