Harbour View eyesore
I must commend the mayor of Kingston and St Andrew for the work he is doing. His job is a very difficult one but the law must be enforced, whether it affects the rich or the poor.
However, I must bring to your attention, the Harbour View roundabout. Something must be done about the situation at this location, as it is just a matter of time before a major accident takes place there. The place is an eyesore with food vendors under their tarpaulins, from one end to the other, poor lighting and cars parked, blocking the road on weekends.
I wonder what a first-time visitor is thinking when he/she sees this. The irony of this is that just by the roadside, in front of all of this, is the sign 'No Vending'.

I want to know if "only the principals are responsible" for the state of education. If this is the case, then I am sure we have a solution on our hands. I hope the rest of the world having similar problems will get ready to emulate Jamaica's solution. What happens to the other important factors such as parental participation, the big personal responsibility and creating a culture that embraces the value of education?
Where are the careless parents and children part in all of this? What kind of citizens are we moulding? It is very sad when grown people who are placed in position of leadership can be so deceptive. There will be consequences.

North-west Clarendon needs water
The residents of north-west Clarendon are suffering. For years, the rivers, springs and gullies have been and are our sources of water. We also buy water but, with all that is happening in the economy, many of us are unable to purchase water as it costs $800 per barrell which lasts for a day or two.
Top Alston, Morant and other surrounding communities have no water. The summer is now on and the children are at home. We're using more water and parents cannot afford the $800 every two days. The children are suffering from ringworm, liver spots and other skin infections. We need attention. Attention should be given to our water system.
In communities harnessed by poverty, unemployment, low standards of living, underdevelopment etc., the least we can ask for is water. We need water. We want Member of Parliament Michael Stern to step in, speak with the relevant agencies and ensure the provision of water in parts of North-West Clarendon.
