Deputy Prime Minister Dr Kenneth Baugh seems to be distracted by the beauty of Carol Pessou (right) who is, by the way, connecting with the camera along with Senator Marlene Malahoo-Forte.

After four and a half years of serving as British high commissioner to Jamaica, Jeremy Cresswell and his wife, Dr Barbara Munske, opened their residence to friends and associates whom they connected with during his tenure. The event wasn't a pre-Christmas party (or just one of many excuses to mingle), but it was to formally bid farewell to the two.

Scores of dignitaries, government personnel, businessmen and women, and associates came out in full support. And by the numbers seen, it was evident that they were received with great warmth and that they had managed to maintain good relations.

Jolly good fellow

Following Cresswell's speech in which he spoke of the friendliness of the Jamaican people, guests belted out the song, He's a Jolly Good Fellow, sending him back to his homeland with fond memories.

Speaking with The Gleaner, Cresswell said after leaving the island, he would head to London to report to the foreign ministry while his wife will go to Berlin. About his time spent in Jamaica, he said he had experienced quite a few happenings. "I have lived here and witnessed political changes and have also experienced minor hurricanes." Besides this, he'll go home with quite a few friendships which were formed here. "I value the friendships here and I will definitely remember the warmth of the Jamaican people," he said

Entertainment was provided by the Jamaica Youth Orchestra.
