On the brink of making their final choices, the selectors of Jamaica's cricket team are concerned about the poor form being displayed by the fast bowlers.

"The trial turned out to be good with a number of batsmen showing form and scoring runs," said Ephraim McLeod, a member of the selection panel, at the end of yesterday's third and final trial match at Melbourne Oval.

"We are, however, concerned with the form of our fast bowlers and hope that whosoever gets chosen, come Wednesday they will work on their game to get it right heading into the tournament."

The selection of Jamaica's 18-member training squad for the upcoming regional four-day championship will take place tomorrow.

Following that, it is anticipated that the team will be announced on Thursday after a final meeting between the national selectors and ratification by the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Board of Directors.

Anticipation

The selectors' meeting, which will include chairman Nehemiah Perry, national Under-15 coach, Ephraim McLeod; former chairman of selectors, Ruddy Williams, and national coach, Junior Bennett, will take place early tomorrow, after which their decision will be sent to the JCA later in the day for approval.

It is anticipated that after failing to impress throughout the trials, first-time invitees, batsmen Zeniffe Fowler and John-Ross Campbell, who are both eligible for Combined Campuses and Colleges selections, leg-spinning all-rounder Nkrumah Bonner and wicketkeeper Maverick Perry will all miss out on selection from the original squad of 24.

Meanwhile, yesterday's match between David Bernard Jr XI and Tamar Lambert XI ended in a draw.

After making 427 in their first innings and resuming on 201-6, Lambert XI went on to make 304 in the morning session with Xavier Marshall scoring 137 - after adding another 27 to his overnight 110 not out - as the opener recorded his second century of the match.

Leg-spinner Odean Brown and Andrew Richardson each made 39 and 28, respectively, against left-arm unorthodox spinner Andre Dwyer, 4-120; off-spinner Bevon Brown captured 3-48 and Bonner, 2-46.

Set 449 to win (after making 283 in their first innings), Bernard XI closed at 149 without loss when the match was called off after the tea interval.

Openers Brenton Parchment and Danza Hyatt ended on 55 and 76 not out, respectively.
