It's easily one of the most anticipated annual dos on tourism's social calendar, as it's that time of year when friends and families make their annual trek to the fabulous SuperClubs Breezes Resort and Spa for the resort's anniversary celebrations, and this year being the resort's 25th anniversary, it will be fabulous.

On Monday, December 7, all eyes were on Breezes Runaway Resort and Golf Club for its coming-of-age party, and pumpkins, there were no disappointments, only pleasant surprises as the celebrations were a toast to the ease and laid-back vacation getaway. It continues to be for holidaymakers across the globe!

The buzz

Well my dears, the buzz among those in tourism circles is all about the silver anniversary celebrations of Breezes Runaway Bay, and the story is it was all that and then some. The spectacular affair began with the display of silver and black balloons designed to create welcoming arches and walkways, and led the way like a blazing beacon from the resort's elegantly decorated lobby and terrace restaurant to the grand pool-deck - the designated party area and the spectacular gala buffet that was the night's signature offering!

Luvs, with hundreds of repeat guests in house for the occasion, plus a number of specially invited ones from within the tourism sectors, as well as leading members of the St Ann community, it was an entertainment blowout!

Well my dears, the management and staff did not disappoint. The night's entertainment package included a star-studded line-up of performers who have provided entertainment for the hotel and the SuperClubs group over the last 25 years. The wonderful music and rhyme flooded the atmosphere with nostalgia as well as a sense of belonging.

Headliners such as the dynamic A.J. Brown, Gem Myers - who gave a show-stopping performance - performing diva Georgia Henry, who took guests on a musical ride, and then some, y'all know we are talking a family of performers here.

Nostalgic adventure

Melvin Williams took the audience on his own nostalgic adventure with his vintage songs as well as rock and roll. The audience not only danced up a storm, it went into full-party mode and then some. The resort's dance ensemble and entertainment team made it a never-to-be-forgotten affair, as they performed to the hot sounds of a range of musical genres. Flying acrobats, drummers and fire dancers added to the night's spectacular offering.

Dears, guests are still raving about it all. Celebrations carried way into the wee hours of the next morning, in the resort's piano bar and Hurricane Disco.

It was a fab night with SuperClubs, Regional VP Sam James; VP public relations Sue McManus; hotel manager (acting) Clark Lobban; sales manager Amoi Leon; spa manager Tracey Munroe; and executive assistant manager Barbara Burton among the guests.

Happy birthday to: media personality Tomlin Ellis, the affable Dwight Sangster and the charming Wayian Smith, who all celebrate their birthday today.

Opposition leader and style doyen Portia Simpson Miller celebrates her special day tomorrow, as will Howard Francis in Lime Hall, St Ann; the lovely Erroleen Anderson-Powell; the charming Sandra McCarty; the lovely Sharon Samuels, in Atlanta, Georgia; and George Harrison of the Protective Services division of the JCF, with his wife, Shirley McCarty-Harrison, promising a fab celebration, and then some, to mark the occasion!

Actor/comedian Tony 'Paleface' Hendricks will celebrate his special day on Sunday the 13th; as will the fabulous Moya Baston, who will be partying in Dubai.

Businessman and art patron Joe Matalon; film-maker and media power-player Lennie Little-White; and Lionel McNeil, of Round Hill, all celebrate their special day on Monday the 14th.

The 15th will see celebrated artist Viv Logan; the charming Angela Amir, and the lovely Heather Gray, who will be partying in New York; and Pulse's International supermodel Jaunel McKenzie all celebrating their special day!

The lovely Rhona Beswick, celebrates on the 16th.

Mutual Gallery curator Gilou Bauer; songbird and diva Ashley Martin; the lovely Raihn Sibblies, and Nancy Martin all share the 17th.

Belated wishes to Professor Dr Trevor Munroe, who celebrated yesterday.

Businessman Douglas Orane who celebrated on the 8th.

HALF MOON SOLDOUT for CHRISTMAS

Myrtle Dwyer, director of sales and marketing at Montego Bay's Half Moon Hotel, is reporting a sold-out Christmas weekend. Speaking with The Gleaner during a visit on Wednesday, she said that the rest of the winter season also looks very promising and they have not cut rates.

For New Year's Eve, ball and beach party will be the highlights and the 40-year-old Sugar Mill Restaurant will be the place to dine. Families have no need to worry and the hotel's Very Important Little Persons programme for children will be rolled out soon. Also almost ready is the Vibes Lounge for teens.

"We are positioning ourselves for survival in the harsh economic times and people are responding," Dwyer said, adding that already bookings are coming in for the annual jazz festival next month.

By the middle of next week, the hotel will hold a Christmas treat for the occupants of the Granville Place of Safety in Trelawny.
