After 48 years of being married, Winston and Delsie Chin express their undying love for each other.

WESTERN BUREAU: Scores of couples turned out to renew their vows and receive God's blessings at a special service at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Montego Bay, St James, last Sunday, December 27.

While most of the couples reside in and around Montego Bay, there were a few who travelled from other parts of the island, and some were visiting from overseas.

During the service, Roman Catholic Bishop of Montego Bay, Charles Dufour, and his aides, Father Carl Clarke and Deacon Baldwin Powell, invited the couples to the altar for a special prayer and blessing. With arms outstretched, the clergymen asked for God's divine intervention in the couples' lives before Bishop Dufour blessed their wedding bands.

The couples were celebrating between 30 to 49 years of marriage. They included Paxton and Una Scott, celebrating 49 years; Winston and Delsie Chin, 48 years; Trinidadian-born calypsonian Kenneth 'Lord Laro' Lara and wife Norma, celebrating 47 years; Leroy and Daisy Reid, 46 years; Oswald and Kay Williams, 44 years; Earl and Elfreda Finlayson and Linford and Marjorie Smith, 42 years, and Daryl and Gladys Bailey, 36 years.

At the end of the prayer, the couples renewed their vows. Widows and widowers in the congregation were also invited to the altar for their share of prayer and blessings.
