Spanish Town, St Catherine:

More than a week after a pregnant woman was shot to death, a man has been charged with her murder.

David Raphael Reid of Daffodil Avenue in Eltham Park, St Catherine, was formally charged by the St Catherine South Homicide Unit.

Reid, a bearer, was picked up last week by investigators probing Natalee Thompson's death.

Reports from the Old Harbour police are that on Sunday, January 31, about 8:30 p.m., Thompson was at home at Wellside Lane in Church Pen, St Catherine.

An occupant or occupants of a car which drove up to Thompson's home asked for her. A man brandished a handgun and she ran, but was chased and shot repeatedly. The attackers then fled.

Thompson was pronounced dead at hospital. She was reportedly eight months pregnant at the time.

The suspect is set to appear in the Corporate Area Gun Court later this week.
