Highway 2000 safe, convenient, pleasant

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I read what turned out to be a very interesting, even amusing, article in the feature column Roving with Lalah, which was published in your Tuesday, February 9 edition of The Gleaner.

As the communications officer at Jamaican Infrastructure Operator (JIO), operators of Highway 2000 (the toll road), I was apprehensively drawn to the title 'A VEXING encounter on the toll road'. I was prepared to read, perhaps, of a complaint regarding an unfortunate encounter with a toll clerk or of some other misfortune on the highway itself. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the content did NOT include either.

However, I thought of other persons who may have likewise read the headline/title, without the benefit of reading the article, and realised that the misleading headline represented a vexing probability for JIO, and could cast the company in an unfair light.

In light of that possibility, I want to use this opportunity to advise the public that the article had nothing to do with anything that was negative in relation to the management or staff of JIO (the operators of the toll road) or its operations in general concerning Highway 2000.

Questionable title

I would also like to state that travelling on Highway 2000 remains a safe, convenient and pleasant experience, which is facilitated by our caring and committed staff.

I appreciate the opportunity to clear up any misconception that may have been created by the questionable title and hope that the writer will be a little more prudent in the future.

I am, etc.,

NICOLE KUSTER

Administrative & Communications Chief Officer

Jamaican Infrastructure Operator Limited
