University College of the Caribbean (UCC) report - All accreditation certificates received
All of nine certificates of accreditation were presented to the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) on Tuesday, February 9. Three of these certificates were in relation to our long-standing partnership with Florida International University.
The UCC received the most certificates among the 17 institutions listed to receive certificates in a presentation that took place at the Awards Ceremony of the Joint Committee for Tertiary Education (JCTE) as part of UCJ's sixth annual Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education Week.
Seminars, workshops and panel discussions, among other public engagements, were held with local and international presenters.
UCC was formed when the Institute of Management and Production was acquired by the Institute of Management Sciences, and has been in operation since 2004.
The awards ceremony also recognised outstanding students and UCC's president of the student executive was nominated and received an award. Keody Thompson had been recognised and awarded by UCC as the 2009 Most Outstanding Female Student Leader; 2009 Scholarship awardee for Leadership; Team Leader for UCC's Help for Haiti initiative in 2010; member of UCC's Editorial Committee and for being a founding member and secretary of the Yallahs Youth Club and member of the Key Club from 1996-2000.
Thompson has also been honoured in her professional life. It was, therefore, not surprising that she was selected to reply on behalf of all 31 awardees.
