St Jago welcomes Gleaner's 'Champs 100' tour
ST JAGO High was a hotbed of excitement yesterday as
'Champs 100' tour rolled into the Spanish Town-based institution. The visit was part of an islandwide promotion of fair play and healthy competition ahead of next month's 100th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships at the National Stadium.
Racers Track Club stars Yohan Blake and Marvin Anderson returned to their alma mater and were joined by popular entertainers such as Demarco, Voicemail, Timbalee, Raine Seville, Duane Stephenson, Ginjah, Coppershot and the Shady Squad dancers. The students revelled in the musical excitement while showing clear signs of appreciation for the messages of respect for hard work and honesty that were being pushed by the presenters.
Tour sponsors Grace-Kennedy, Victoria Mutual Building Society and LIME enjoyed some close interaction with the hundreds of students that were present at the event. The sponsors erected tents and booths which lined the periphery of the auditorium. The many giveaways that have become a popular feature of their presentations on the tour were also well received by the large gathering.
Champs 100 tour has already visited Calabar High in Kingston and Holmwood Technical in Manchester and will turn its focus on St Elizabeth Technical High School next Friday, as the build-up continues before the March 24-27 spectacle.
