Hall right on target

Published: Tuesday | March 9, 2010 Comments 0

The Editor , Sir:

The article in The Sunday Gleaner by Arthur Hall, senior staff reporter, was right on target. There is absolutely nothing called 'accountability' within the country especially when it comes to our political leaders and other leaders of prominence.

Guns and ammunition did not come into the island by people from the lower income bracket who got bored one day and said, "Let's bring guns into the island and start killing our opponents". Nor did poor farmers looking to try a new thing, import them into the country.

Can you just imagine if any of these so-called area leaders (dons) were ever to talk or write a tell-all book with names etc.? it's ironic, but to a certain degree I almost feel sorry for many of these area leaders/dons as they got caught up in an illusion about life. Ninety-nine per cent of these individuals came from the lower strata of society, financially and otherwise. They got caught up by the bidding of their political leaders and carry out their requests. But as much money as they make and the name recognition they receive, this still did not put them to the social level they may have envisioned.

I am not going to sit here and accuse Christopher 'Dudus' Coke of anything, as I have no proof of any of his dealings be it legal or illegal. The only advice I would offer him is if there is nothing to hide, then stand up and defend yourself, your integrity etc. If not, then protect yourself and expose those who might have got you in this problem. One thing will be guaranteed, if you are found guilty, you will be paying the piper alone.

I am. etc.,

RESPECT
