Though he is in fifth place and battling for a podium finish in CKI/Homestead Rotax Junior Class Go Kart Championship, St Georges College schoolboy and Red Bull athlete, Colin Daley Jr, left the island yesterday in high spirits for the final leg of the series, which gets underway on Saturday at Homestead in Florida, United States.

He is accompanied by teammates Jonathan Law and William Myers, who are in the top 10, on points, in the Rotax Mini-Max Class.

The contingent also includes driving coach Peter Moodie Jr, of the NG Racing camp and manager Sammy Law.

"The races will be very competitive, but we are hoping for a podium finish. Daley Jr (Colin) should do very well. We are also expecting good things from Law and Myers," said Sammy Law.

Daley, who is on 38 points, will be looking to speed past the respective third and fourth-place karters - Alessandra Madrigal, 60, and Dore Chaponick, 43.

Sebastian Ordonez and Jesus Rios, who are locked on 110 points in first-place, are beyond reach.

This means Daley will have to pull out all the stops to get by the third-place Madrigal.

At the previous meet in February, Daley finished fifth and sixth in both finals.

"He has since worked on all the faults and his looking good," said Sammy Law.

Myers and Law (Jonathan) are eighth and ninth on 26 and 25 points, respectively, in the Mini-Max Class.

Although the task seems difficult, the two must finish in the top two of both finals if they are to have any chance of winning a trophy.

They are up against competitors like Darlton Sergeant, who is leading the class on 119 points, followed by Kyle Kirkwood, 89 points, and third-place Jordon Perry, with 60 points.
