All systems go for 2010 race season
On Friday night, Jamaica Race Drivers' Club (JRDC) launched the 2010 circuit racing season which gets under way at the Dover Raceway, St Ann, on Easter Monday, April 5.
"We will be having a 15-race programme and this will include some motorcycle events. Qualifying for grid positions takes place on Sunday, April 4, while the first race is scheduled for the following day at 9:30," said Hilary Jardine, president of the JRDC.
Speaking to Automotives, the JRDC president said, despite the recession, the club is very optimistic.
"We have great plans to deve-lop Dover this year. The number of competitors has been increased," said Jardine. "Right now, we are aiming to install an extra 500 seating arrangement for die-hard fans."The JRDC said it has acquired another parcel of land which will be used for additional parking. The venue will now have two parking lots with two entrances and exits.
