H View look to tame the 'Lions'

Published: Sunday | March 21, 2010 Comments 0
Harbour View's Kavin Bryan.

DIGICEL Premier League leaders Harbour View will look to quickly return to winning ways when they tackle Humble Lion at the Harbour View Mini Stadium at 7 o'clock this evening.

Harbour View had a tough midweek loss to St Georges in the Flow All-Island Knockout Cup and, despite dispatching west Kingston challengers Tivoli to surge to the top of the league last weekend, the Stars of the East know there is little room for error, as they tackle a Humble Lion team battling to avoid relegation.

Interestingly, in two meetings this season Harbour View have failed to secure full points against Humble Lion, playing to a 1-1 draw at Compound in October, before going down 0-1 at the Effortville Community Centre.

Struggling St Georges

Title holders Tivoli will be eager to take advantage of any slip-ups by the leaders when they face a struggling St Georges at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex. The Portlanders, who have struggled since the end of the second round, may, however, have been boosted by their midweek triumph.

Desperate to move out of the relegation zone, the Neville Bell-coached Portmore United will face another stern challenge when they tackle sixth-place Rivoli in a St Catherine derby at the Spanish Town Prison Oval. However, powered by the league's leading scorer Devon Hodges, Rivoli will be determined to secure sixth place, which will see the team avoid a heated relegation scrap.

Winless in their last six games, Waterhouse could have their hands full when they travel to Brancourt to face a Sporting Central team currently at the bottom of the table and desperate to avoid relegation.

Having put together a solid run in their last four games, pulling out of the relegation zone and into ninth place, Arnett Gardens will be looking to keep their momentum going when they tackle Village United.

Boys' Town will be looking to end a wretched run of form, which has seen them drop out of title contention, when they face a desperate August Town, who find themselves one point above the relegation zone despite a much improved season.

Today's games

Boys' Town vs August Town at Collie Smith Drive at 3:30 p.m.

Village vs Arnett Gardens at Elliston Wakeland Centre at 3:30 p.m.

Rivoli vs Portmore at Spanish Town Prison Oval at 4 p.m.

Tivoli Gardens vs St Georges at Edward Seaga Sports Complex at 5 p.m.
