One more week for voter registration

Published: Wednesday | March 24, 2010 Comments 0

Persons who are not yet registered have just a week to become eligible for the new voters' list.

Director of Elections Orette Fisher said while persons are receptive of the registration process to meet the March 31 deadline, he is urging other individuals to make use of the opportunity.

Fisher noted that the process was simple, as persons were not required to produce any form of documentation when they show up at their Electoral Office of Jamaica constituency offices.

However, he said if an issue arises then the persons would be required to produce proof with the necessary document requested.

An advertisement in The Gleaner on Monday indicated that persons not registered by March 31 would not be added to the list before November this year, when the second list will be published.

Persons who are 18 years and over and who are not subject to any legal incapacity are able to get registered.

Following the visit to the office, persons are visited at their homes for residence verification.
