Former national captain Elaine Davis was in scintillating form on Thursday when she shot 45 goals from 54 attempts to guide defending champions Jamalco to an easy 62-35 victory over sister-team Windalco in the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Berger Paints Super League.
The victory, achieved at the Scotiabank Sports Club in Liguanea, was Jamalco's fifth straight this season.
"It was a good performance from me, even though I think I could have done a bit better. I also think that my performance is getting better with each game that I have played this season," said Davis.
"My performance is based off the team's effort because they made me look good," she added.
Despite their successes, Davis said they will have to work hard to retain their title.
"It's going to take a big effort to win this year's championship," she said.
Jamalco, who are seeking their eighth consecutive hold, dominated from the opening whistle and led 14-7, 38-18 and 48-25 at the end of the first three quarters respectively.
Davis received solid support from Marsha Murphy, who netted 17 goals from 20 attempts, as their team ran circles around Windalco in the fourth period with their swift passing, quick off-the-ball movements and tight defence.
Former national Under-16 player, Deneen Taylor, with 20 goals from 32 attempts, and Petal Smith, who scored six from nine tries, were the main scorers for Windalco.
Meanwhile, the competition will continue tomorrow with former champions Tivoli Gardens 'A' opposing Skibo 'A', Mico facing Waulgrovians 'A' and Arnett Gardens awaiting G.C. Foster Strikers.
