Rookie completes Mojo 6 listing
Spanish golfer Beautriz Recari recently became the 16th player who will compete at this week's LPGA-sanctioned The Mojo 6 Raceway Golf Tournament, which will be held at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course, Montego Bay.
The 22-year-old rookie will participate in the tournament after winning an online 'fan's choice' voting competition.
She will join 15 of the sport's most renowned LPGA-ranked golfers, including Cristie Kerr, Anna Nordqvist, Suzann Pettersen, Song Hee Kim, Paula Creamer, Yani Tseng, and 15-year-old golfing phenomenon Mariah Stackhouse, who will all compete for the tournament's first prize tag of US$1 million.
The first set of players will start arriving today, with the pro-am leg of the tournament starting tomorrow. The professional leg will start on Thursday and end on Friday.
"Thank you to my fans for selecting me to play in The Mojo 6 in Jamaica," said Recari in a media release.
"We did it! I''m so happy to be part of such an innovative event and to be one of the first golfers to play Raceway Golf, which I think will not only be exciting for us golfers, but also for the fans to watch," she added.
Unique golf tournament
The Mojo 6 Tournament is a new and unique golf tournament that will be broadcast on CBS. It will be the first time that the golfers will participate in this version of the sport which, according to the organisers, is designed to showcase the intense competition and rivalries in golf and take the sport to a new level.
"Since coming up with The Mojo 6, we wanted to create an exciting tournament that not only features great players but also engages fans," said Joy Stephenson, co-founder of Mojo Marketing & Media, the organiser of the event.
Raceway Golf, to be played over two days, will pit the 16 players against each other to battle out a series of six-hole matches to crown a winner.
