President and CEO of Air Jamaica, Bruce Nobles, confirmed that passengers were still flying with Air Jamaica and thousands had seats reserved for approximately three months.

As the April 30 transition from Air Jamaica to Caribbean Airlines approaches, employees of the former and travel agencies were told that airline sales were not down, but that the March load factor was over 75 per cent, and there was an 85 per cent booking for the following month through April 11.

"The fact is we are getting advanced bookings, we continue to get bookings.

"To characterise the fact that nobody is booking with us is completely incorrect and damaging and not helpful to the country or the people of Jamaica or Air Jamaica itself," Nobles told The Gleaner Wednesday.

According to a release sent out by the airline, the system for regulatory authorisations will remain in place as well as many employees and the airline's fleet.

Frequent flyer members will also continue to benefit from Air Jamaica's 7th Heaven rewards programme, experiencing no change.
