Thanks, Officer #396

Published: Friday | May 14, 2010 Comments 0

The Editor, Sir:

It is not often that we say "Thank You" to the police, and I have never had reason to do so. However, I had reason to call the emergency number, 119, and that number on those occasions rang into oblivion.

BUT today, I must say "a big thank you" to Officer #396 of the emergency hotline. Recently, in Meadowbrook Estates, at minutes to 6: 00 a.m., my neighbours (two teenagers), were hit down as they waited on the sidewalk for the bus to school. We all ran outside on hearing the screams of their grandmother.

wave of relief

My sister called the 119 number with trepidation. We were all in great distress and panic, not expecting an answer, but reaching out for help.

Truly I cannot describe the wave of relief that instantly washed me just hearing Officer #396 after the first ring. In times of panic its such a massive relief to have a live voice respond to your need.

Thank you to Mr & Mrs Nurse that took the children to the hospital, the police response team, the fire truck and again Officer #396 who got them in motion.

I am, etc.,

MICHELLE EBANKS
