UCC report: Exclusive licence for Commonwealth master's degrees

Published: Sunday | June 13, 2010 Comments 0

The University College of the Caribbean (UCC) is heartened by the commitment of its faculty and staff who have remained committed to facilitating the education of students. We further acknowledge the fortitude of students who have endeavoured to persevere despite the challenges that prevail.

The UCC is unwavering in its continued support and development of programmes that empower people. The Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration (CEMBA) and the Master of Public Administration programmes (CEMPA) are representative of this operating philosophy.

The UCC has obtained the exclusive licence for these programmes in Jamaica. Created in 1987, the CEMBA and CEMPA degrees provide access to specialised knowledge, regardless of location and socio-economic delineation. They also present other benefits.

Affordable tuition: The CEMBA and CEMPA cost less than most other similar master's degree programmes and the UCC offers several flexible payment options.

Flexible study options: There are several part-time and full-time options available, with a focus on facilitating face-to-face lectures.

Relevant curricula

Relevant curricula: The courses are designed and developed by Canada's top universities including York University, University of Toronto and University of Windsor.

International recognition: The programmes are currently also being delivered at several reputable universities across the Commonwealth.

Astute faculty support: At the UCC, the courses are being taught by highly respected and renowned local and international faculty.

The CEMBA and CEMPA programmes are delivered over a period of 12 months (full-time) and 20 months (part-time). The admissions requirements facilitate equal opportunity for all relevantly qualified persons who reside in Commonwealth countries. The UCC seeks to widen opportunities for learning and to date the UCC has five ongoing cohorts and has already graduated the first cohort.

These degrees are also accessible to the wider Caribbean, which is being facilitated by the ongoing rollout of the external studies programme. This new initiative includes 80 per cent of the programme support being available online, while 20 per cent will be through interpersonal lectures. For more information visit www.ucc.edu.jm.
