SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP):

England beat Australia by four wickets in the first one-day international of a five-match series at The Rose Bowl yesterday. Batting first, Australia reached 267-7 from their 50 overs. Eoin Morgan hit an unbeaten 103 as England replied with 268-6 with four overs to spare.

Scores: England 268-6 off 46 overs (Eoin Morgan 103 not out; Ryan Harris 3-42) defeated Australia: 267-7 off 50 overs (Michael Clarke 87 not out; Luke Wright 2-34, James Anderson 2-43).

Sri Lanka beat India

DAMBULLA, Sri Lanka (AP):

Sri Lanka beat India by seven wickets in the final Asia Cup preliminary-round match at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium yesterday. Put into bat, India was dismissed for 209. Sri Lanka reached their target with 12.3 overs to spare.

Scores: Sri Lanka 211-3 in 37.3 overs (Kumar Sangakkara 73, Mahela Jayawardene 53 not out, Zaheer Khan 2-42) def. India 209 in 42.3 overs (Rohit Sharma 69, Farveez Maharoof 5-42) by seven wickets.
