Lady Anion is a line of sanitary pads and liners which are designed to give women better protection.
"It doesn't feel like you have it on," said Jacqueline Jones, who has used the pads for one menstruation cycle so far.
But according to Jones, the benefits are more far-reaching than that.
"It can be worn for a longer period than Always (her usual brand)," she said. But most importantly, during those longer hours, the pad remained dry. This is a plus for Jones, who because of her fibroids, has an occasional heavy flow.
Marked reduction
In these instances, for the first two days of her period, she uses up to five pads per day. During her one-month trial of the product, she saw a marked reduction, while she still remained comfortable.
According to Dr James E. Peart, from Peart Medical Centre in Portmore, St Catherine, who also distributes the pads and liners, "They are ideal for young sexually active females," he said in an email response, As well as women generally.
The distinction with the products is that they help to, "stabilise the ph of the vagina and stop the spread of microbial infections and gynaecological conditions," according to one website, www.nutronix.com.
Dr Peart noted that it can aid against infections like Candida, Albicans and Thrush.
The products achieve this through it's distinctive technology of far infrared rays (Far-IR) and an anion chip embedded in each pad.
Once high concentrations of negative ions are launched from the body the antibacterial and odour reduction functions kick in. "The Far-IR rays system can improve an individual's metabolism and microcirculation, activate cells and strengthen the immune system. The Anion system is designed for anti-inflammatory and antiseptic functions with no side effects," according to the website.
The pads for menstruation are a pack of 10 pads of Lady Anion-day and Lady Anion-night. Liners include the Lady-Anion Sport style which are designed specifically for thong underwear and those who play sports or do workouts. The Lady Anion everyday liners are shaped like the average pad.
Dr Peart recommends a women change her liners at least twice per day.
Jones noted that the pads, which are individually wrapped, do not shift once put in place.
She said they are more expensive than her regular brand. It cost her $800 for the pack of ten. However, she believes they were worth it. "I do believe you get value for your money," she said.
