Jade McGann, student of Naggo Head Primary School, made no joke about her mission of being one of Jamaica's best teachers, who will contribute to improving literacy in the country.
As a hard worker over the years, scoring 95.4 per cent on the Grade Six Achievement Test was no surprise to the 11-year-old scholar from Bushy Park, St Catherine.
"I studied a lot because I heard that the exam would be hard. My mother also bought the necessary tools that would help me to be successful in the exam, so I could not afford to score low grades," she said.
Her hard work and determination earned her a place to the prestigious Immaculate Conception High School.
"I am happy because not many students got the opportunity to go to schools and not many students do well in the exams," Jade said.
She said she desires to be a teacher, so that she can help to improve the education standard of the country.
"I like to share my knowledge with other children and I know I can contribute to Jamaica achieving 100 per cent literacy," the little scholar noted.
But the avid worker said, despite spending quality time with her books, she always sets aside time to have fun.
She enjoyed singing, playing computer games and watching television in her spare time.
Kimesha Davis, mother of the scholar, was highly impressed with her daughter's grades.
She said she was happy her hard work in getting her daughter prepared for the exam has paid off.
However, while she is enjoying this moment, Jade said she is preparing herself to help her daughter with harder work at the secondary level.
