Daneil Palmer was ecstatic that her hard work that led to high achievements in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT), even more so because she didn't allow her disability to keep her from doing well.
The student of Excelsior Primary School gained a place at St Andrew High, after scoring a 95 per cent average, despite her challenges of being hearing-impaired.
Daneil was born a normal child, but lost her hearing by age three.
She attended the Jamaica Association for the Deaf pre-school, before moving on to the unit class at Excelsior Primary, which is designed for students with hearing problems. At grade four, she was integrated into the normal school setting when she started to excel.
From then, Daneil has been doing well, topping her class on several occasions.
The student attained the top average for the school by the time she reached grade five and maintained an A range up to grade six.
Now the future scholar is celebrating high achievements in GSAT, with perfect scores in mathematics, language arts and science, while she received a 92 per cent in social studies and 10 out of 12 in communication task.
"I am feeling great about the school that I was placed at, because I spent a lot of time studying," she said.
