Dr Simms, give it a rest

Published: Monday | July 19, 2010 Comments 0

The Editor, Sir:

Please publish as a note to Dr Glenda Simms re her July 18 Sunday Gleaner article 'Diasporic illogic and disrespect'.

Dr Simms,

The reason we have so much conflict in this world is that people like you put too much meaning into everything you read. Sometimes you have to ignore what is being said and not try to take everyone to task. What if the gentleman you are criticising had included abused men as his examples, would your response be any different?

I have seen instances in which good women have been abused by bad men, and more often than not, bad women who abuse good men - women who tend to hold their children for ransom, just to aggravate their men. You are not a heroine, and neither is the speaker, whose idiocy you criticised, a hero. I would suggest you give it a rest, and let the chips fall where they may.

I am, etc.,

CASBURN TOMLIN
