A refreshing blend of contemporary and traditional gospel has been lined up for the Grace Tropical Rhythms Jamaica Gospel Song competition tonight at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.
Gospel artiste Sandra Brooks and Singjay Ryan Mark, along with Psalm Ministries International, are slated to make guest appearances at the grand finale, which begins at 6 p.m.
Under the theme 'One Voice, One Heart', 10 finalists will compete for more than $1 million in cash and other prizes.
Leighton Jones, gospel coordinator at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), organiser of the event, said this year's programme has been completely revamped. According to Jones, patrons can look out for what he has described as "the best gospel songs produced by the commission in recent history."
Finalists have been participa-ting in a series of promotional road shows and appearances across the island.
A special outreach element was also introduced this year, which saw the finalists volunteering at the Windsor Child Care facility in St Ann and the Hanbury Children's Home in Manchester.
The public had up to midnight last night to select their favourite contestant via Claro number 444-3271, with the contestant receiving the most votes winning the Popular Vote prize.
Tickets for the event are available at Source of Light, Sam Wisdom Music Mart, and Port More Mall Pharmacy and JCDC head office, 3-5 Phoenix Avenue, St Andrew. Admission for adults is $600 pre-sold, $800 at the gate, with a special reserved ticket available for $1,000, children $300.
