MIAMI GARDENS, Florida, (CMC) :

Jamaican jockey Jermaine Bridgmohan produced a late rally with CAUSEWAY'S KIN to land the US$55,000 Band Is Passing Stakes at Calder racecourse on Saturday.

After tracking the leaders through the early fractions of the one-mile trip on dirt, Bridgmohan brought the four-year-old chestnut colt with a late run to win by a length in 1:40.73 seconds.

Long-shot DINNER IN ODEM was second while FEARLESS EAGLE finished third, in a relatively close finish at the wire.

Following a level break, WOODRUFF RIDGE took to the front, hauling the field through the first quarter in 23.46 seconds, before completing the half-mile in 47.44, still three lengths clear.

Bridgmohan kept CAUSEWAY'S KIN tucked away in fourth, with STAY FOCUSSED and FEAR-LESS EAGLE ahead of him.

As the race left the far turn, Bridgmohan kicked the gelding on and he responded well, taking the lead and accelerating quickly.

He got 1-1/2 lengths clear in mid-stretch with DINNER IN ODEM closing quickly, but held on strongly to take the win.
