There was a Jamaica one-two in the men's shot put at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, on Sunday night.
National champion Dorian Scott threw the shot 18.92 metres to capture the gold medal ahead of teammate O'Dayne Richards who produced a personal best 18.74m for silver. Eder Moreno of Colombia was third with 18.45m.
Jamaica earned three other medals in Sunday's track and field events. Eric Kedoo clocked a personal best 13.52 seconds for silver in the 110m hurdles. The gold medal went to Barbados' world champion, Ryan Brathwaite, in 13.39. There were bronze medals for Lerone Clarke and Andrea Bliss in the men's 100m and women's 100m hurdles, respectively.
Clarke crossed the line in 10.15, behind winner and defending champion, Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles, 10.07, and Antigua and Barbuda's Daniel Bailey, 10.08. Jamaica's national champion, Oshane Bailey, was fourth in 10.20 seconds.
British Virgin Islands sprinter Tahesia Harrigan joined Martina in a successful defence of her sprint title as she captured the women's 100 metres in 11.19 seconds.
The effort by the 28-year-old forced Trinidadian Ayanna Hutchinson into second with 11.47, with Colombian Yomara Hinestroza third in 11.51.
Bliss clocked 13.20 seconds for bronze, the same time as silver medallist Eliecit Palacios of Colombia. The gold medal winner was Trinidad and Tobago's Aleesha Barber in 13.09.
