School security beef-up

The education ministry is to review school security islandwide following a deadly attack at a Hanover school on Monday.

In a press statement issued yesterday, the ministry said it will not only beefing up security at Hopewell High but it would also be monitoring and reviewing the security arrangements of all schools.

The ministry said the measures being implemented at Hopewell were being done in collaboration with the police.

"The Ministry of Education condemns the attack which resulted in the shooting death of a prospective teacher, Mr Keaven Dixon," the ministry added.

Al Miller gets bail extension

The case against embattled pastor Merrick 'Al' Miller was adjourned yesterday.

This came after prosecutors told the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court that they are still awaiting several statements from the police.

Miller had his $200,000 bail extended until September 23, when the case will again be mentioned.

The popular pastor of Fellowship Tabernacle church in St Andrew is facing charges of harbouring a fugitive and perverting the course of justice.
