The power of interdependence

Apostle Steve Lyston, Contributor

We live in a huge world divided into various continents and nations. Likewise, the human body is divided into several sections and parts. There are numerous races globally, some which we ourselves don't yet know. There are also varying social classes and statuses throughout the nations of the world. Likewise, there are different individuals with different personalities that make up the communities, the nations and the world. When it rains, there are innumerable tributaries, streams, rivers and lakes that receive it, and they all flow into the seas and oceans.

If the rains stop then the tributaries, streams, rivers and lakes all dry up, and the seas and oceans will be affected. The ocean gets its flow from all the smaller bodies of water!

Likewise, when the small companies dry up, then the big companies will eventually close because the small companies purchase from the big companies. Further to this, when the resources of the poor dissipate, then the resources of the rich will be affected and will dry up also because the rich gets its flow from the poor.

Everyone is important

Everything and everyone is important in life! None is more important than the other because every part of the body is connected and each part is important for the body to function effectively.

We may take our bowels for granted, but if they do not function properly then the waste from our bodies will back up and cause our entire body to become toxic!

The government needs the people; the people need the government. The government cannot have power unless the people give them that power! Without the head, the body will die! Without a body, there is no need for a head! Can the people then be taken for granted?

If the government fails to take care of the needs of the people, especially the poor, then there will be famine, crime, violence and anarchy, because desperation will consume the people. The prisons would be overrun and we would run out of land for cemeteries.

Every living thing has to depend on the Creator (Proverbs 18: 16-21; Deuteronomy 8:18). He gives the power to get wealth, He gives favor and He has our lives in His hands.

The buyer needs the seller, the seller needs the buyer. The employer needs the workers and the workers need the employer. The smaller nations fuel the economies of the larger nations; and when the smaller nations suffer, eventually the economies of the larger countries will suffer.

What would happen if the smaller countries stop trading with or travelling to the larger countries? Sometimes the larger countries impose strict laws against smaller, less developed nations that would bring them into further hardship. But have they ever thought that these laws would eventually affect their own economies?

Any larger country or company that sees the value of the smaller nations and organisations, will have economic dominion in these end times; because God did not give any one nation everything it needs. He created the earth so that we would work together to help each other for the benefit of all and to His glory.

Negative criticisms

The rich always need something from the poor. (II Kings 4: 8 - 17) The rich may have wealth, but the poor may have a solution.

In the same way that having a friend or ally is important to us, our enemies and competitors are just as important. They keep us on our toes, their negative criticisms help to promote and advertise us; and they create doors of opportunity for us. (I Kings 18: 17-40; Job 42:10)

Now the banks need the clients and the clients need the bank. But we need banks that operate with grace and compassion, because without those two components everybody loses - the lenders and the borrowers.

If everyone realises that we are all shareholders in this huge organisation called earth, and that each is equally important, then there will be a turnaround, and positive change will come.

Apostle Steve Lyston is a biblical economics consultant and author of several books, including 'End Time Finance' and 'The New Millionaire'.
