Ambassador Marco Mazzocchi-Alemanni, (right) head of the European Union Delegation in Jamaica, and Anthony Hylton (left), member of parliament for Western St Andrew, break ground for the construction of End Time Basic School at Penwood Place, Waterhouse, yesterday.

Looking on (from left) are Andrew Holness, the minister of education, Elsaida Luke, the school's founder, and Scarlette Gillings, Managing Director of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF).

The EU has sponsored the building of the school to the tune of $23.5 million under its Poverty Alleviation Programme. The remainder of money to fund the $31.6 million project will come from the community's labour input as well as the land.

It involves building and equipping new classrooms, teachers' facilities, and a playground.

The project, which is being implemented by the JSIF is scheduled to last four months.
