Leading all-time trainer Philip Feanny attained a personal milestone at Caymanas Park yesterday when he saddled his 1,800th winner, SHE SELL OFF, in the third race over the round-five course for maiden two-year-olds.

Installed a howling 1-4 favourite in a field of seven, SHE SELL OFF, ridden by five-time champion jockey Trevor Simpson for the Lakeland Farms Limited, broke winging from the number one post position and proceeded to make all impressively.

She turned for home some two lengths clear of the chasing PRINCESS SHILOH (4-1) under champion jockey Omar Walker and lengthened her strides to win by six lengths from the late-running INVICTUS (6-1).

In getting to yet another milestone in his long and distinguished career, Feanny, who started training in the mid-70s, posted a winner on each of the past three racedays, beginning with his improving 3-y-o filly SHE'S SMOKIN on the previous Saturday and the two-year-old debutante ISNT SHE SOMETHIN on Wednesday.

The 52-year-old trainer, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Thoroughbred Racing some years ago and also holds the national honour, the Order of Distinction (OD), took it all in stride and really had little to a say.

Having saddled an unprecedented 45 classic winners, including 10 Derby winners and five Triple Crown winners, Feanny, when quizzed to name his favourite horse, said the number was too many to recall. When pressed, he conceded:

"If I was forced to make a choice it would have to be EROS, but THE VICEROY was right up there with them," he said.

EROS was 'Horse of the Year' in 1994 and emerged champion sprinter on numerous occasions in a career spanning 29 wins. The VICEROY, on the other hand, won the Triple Crown in 1989 and has the distinction of being the only thoroughbred to win the 'Horse of the Year' award on three occasions (1989, 1990, 1992), He won a total of 22 races in a long and illustrious racing career.

In addition to EROS and THE VICEROY, other famous horses trained by Feanny include PRINCE CONSORT, TEMPERENCE OAKS, HELLO POOCHIE LIU, A KING IS BORN, BRUCEONTHELOOSE, DISTINCTLY IRISH, KAZ HOSHAY, VESTIA; Triple Crown winners LIU CHE POO (1988), MILLIGRAM (1992), I'M SATISFIED (2000) and SIMPLY MAGIC, who in 2002 became the first filly to win the Triple Crown at Caymanas Park.

Significantly, Feanny teamed up with Hall of Fame jockey Winston 'Fanna' Griffiths to win with many of the above-mentioned horses, most notably EROS, THE VICEROY, PRINCE CONSORT, MILIGRAM and SIMPLY MAGIC.

Griffiths, who turns 52 on September 18, is four wins away from attaining his 1,600th career win.

On a day when Anthony 'Baba' Nunes (Sea Devil, Patara) and Wilfred Chin (Thalibeau, La's Dancer) shared the training honours with two winners each, LA'S DANCER (5-1) ran on strongly to win the Reca Trophy feature (claming $350,000-$300,000) over 1400m with Dane Nelson aboard.
