Actors, and some made popular from being involved in the arts, danced to pulsating rhythms coming from the speakers Razz and Biggy had been playing through.

Hits such as Buju Banton's Destiny, Wanna Be Loved and Sizzla's Can't Keep A Good Man Down reverberated throughout Cinecom, 1A Fairview Avenue - Ghett'A Life, a film directed by Chris Browne, was completed.

"We are very pleased to have been able to complete the filming of Ghett'A Life on schedule. We owe deep gratitude to the residents of Rose Town, Craig Town, Allman Town, Grants Pen, Mountain View and South Side for their support and cooperation over the past six weeks, and a huge thank you to our tireless crew and cast," said Ghett'A Life's line producer, Natalie Thompson.

Razz and Biggy also played songs from Nas and Damian Marley's Distant Relatives album which are featured on the film's soundtrack.

Ghett'A Life is an action movie centred around Kevoy Burton, who plays Derrick, a teenager forced to live under the political divisions of his inner-city community. He faces a major problem, as his dream of becoming a professional boxer is threatened by political tension.

Experienced actors

The film is filled with several seasoned and experienced Jamaican actors such as Chris McFarlane, Winston 'Bello' Bell, Teddy Price, Munair Zacca, Carl Davis and Jamaican-born Canadian-based actress Karen Robinson. Young, emerging local talent in the form of O'Daine Clarke, Kadeem Wilson and Lisa Williams also shine in their roles.

The production team behind Ghett'A Life included a top-notch local film crew, which supported acclaimed cinematographer, Bobby Bukowski, whose film, The Messenger, was nominated for two Academy Awards.

The movie is set to be released between spring and summer of next year and is among the latest crop of movies with politics at its centre. The movie joins Storm Saulter's Better Mus' Come which features the No-Maddz poetry quartet.
