Jamaican international, central midfielder Khari Stephenson, continued making a strong impact with United States Major League Soccer (MLS) team San Jose Earthquakes, by scoring in the team's 2-1 victory over Houston Dynamos on Sunday night in Texas.

The 29-year-old Stephenson scored his first goal since joining the MLS team last month, when he slotted home a cross in the sixth minute of play. The square was provided by Brazilian striker Geovanni, who also scored his first goal for the team.

Geovanni was the provider for Stephenson's goal, as he slipped by three defenders on the right flank before supplying the cross that was met by the big Jamaican at the edge of the six-yard box. He sweetly drove the ball with his right foot into the far corner of the goal, giving the Dynamos goalkeeper no chance.

The Houston Dynamos equalised in time added to the first half, when Brad Davis headed in a goal.

But the Brazilian Geovanni returned in the 65th minute to score from a low drive to earn the San Jose Earthquakes a 2-1 victory over the Houston Dynamos.

The victory by the Earthquakes was their third in four matches since Stephenson joined the team last month. The Jamaican provided an assist in the game's only goal, in his first match back at the club, last month and they have gone on to win one and draw another match prior to Sunday.

San Jose played the final eight minutes with 10 after Sam Cronin was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on Brian Mullan.

The Earthquakes are now on 32 points and fifth in the Western Conference, with two games in hand over their rivals. San Jose will next meet FC Dallas on Saturday.
