Completion certificates of all venues have been handed over to the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) four weeks ahead of the October 3-14 event, organisers said yesterday.

The certificates for all competition and non-competition venues, including the games village, were handed over to CGF chief executive Mike Hooper on Monday.

Organising Committee chairman, Suresh Kalmadi, said they had "got copies of the completion certificates given by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to the venue owners and as promised, handed them over to Mr Hooper".

Kalmadi and his organising team members have been blamed for slow work and also faced allegations of corruption in recent weeks.

"We are confident that the Commonwealth Games Federation and its members will be satisfied," said Kalmadi, who is a lawmaker representing the ruling National Congress party.

CGF president Mike Fennell has put the onus on the government to ensure control of the venues.

"The organising committee has to secure a report on progress of venues as well as fitness, fire health and safety from government departments," Fennell said last month.

Several test events were held over the past few months as work continued at the venues.

The games will feature 17 disciplines at 11 venue clusters around the city.
