William Knibb High School and parish neighbours Muschett High started their campaign in Zone A of the 2010 ISSA/ Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup somewhat shakily yesterday afternoon, when they played out a 0-0 draw in their game at the William Knibb grounds.

In another game played at Drax Hall in St Ann, Marcus Garvey Technical, behind a first-half strike by Keno Noble, clipped Brown's Town 1-0 in their Zone C fixture.

William Knibb, which created the better chances, scored through Jordon Thorpe.

However, Muschett, which remained resolute throughout, found the equaliser through goalkeeper Odean Clarke, who scored from the penalty spot.

"We played somewhat shakily today because some of the youngsters were playing at this level for the first time," said Cassman Williams, the William Knibb coach. "Hopefully, they will get rid of the jitters for the next game and give an improved performance."

The Muschett team, with new coach Delroy DeLisser making his debut, gave the coach a lot to be happy about, especially in the second half when they got the equaliser and several close chances.

"We started slowly but in the second half we took control and should have won the game," said DeLisser. "We are not disappointed as a point on the road is generally accepted as a good result."

The game started with William Knibb having the better of the exchances and they should have taken the lead in the fifth minute. Oshane Brown broke free before the goal but fumbled badly and lost out to the alert goalkeeper.

With the momentum in their favour, William Knibb finally took the lead in the 33rd minute. Thorpe pounced on a rebound before the goal and fired past goalkeeper Clarke, making the half-time score 1-0.

Muschett started the second half looking quite composed and should have drawn level in the 46th minute. However, after breaking free before the goal, skipper Ramone Brown fired wide.

William Knibb got a chance to double their lead but Jamar Clarke booted wide.

They paid dearly as Muschett were awarded a penalty in the 68th minute when Armando Williams was fouled in the goal area. Goalkeeper Clarke made no mistake from the spot, scoring to make the final score 1-1.
