THE EDITOR, Sir:
The article 'One-Don 'prophet' ... and a buckling Bruce' by your senior Gleaner writer, Gary Spaulding, of Sunday October 17, 2010 had some incorrect dates. Please note that the uncontested general election was 1983, not 1993, where the writer mentions 'Golding was handed the Central St Catherine seat.' Also the Most Hon Edward Seaga became prime minister when the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) won the 1980 general election. The writer wrote, "the JLP lost the 1980 general election ..." The events that inform our history and development as a nation must be safeguarded from dating errors, if we are to be informed, educated citizens.
I am, etc.,
Dudley C. McLEAN
