Below are edited excerpts from comments posted online at www.jamaica-gleaner.com by readers to yesterday's story 'PNP still uneasy over selection for commission'.

SAME SHOE, DIFFERENT FOOT

The PNP has done the same thing in the past.

TOO MUCH ARGUING

Why doesn't the Opposition start trying to do something positive for this country? I am beginning to get turned off by the combative stance taken by Mrs Simpson Miller when there's so much to be done. No wonder our people are so argumentative. That's the way our leaders are. They want power so much, they can't even love this country.

FORGET DUDUS

PNP, forget about Dudus now and forever and try to fix the country. Better roads, get rid of garbage on the streets, help the people of Jamaica. Address these issues and not Dudus. He is a lost cause.

GET THE TRUTH

I have to agree with Mrs Simpson Miller that the prime minister should have consulted with the Opposition when naming the commission.

The body should be made up of members of the civil society, with no agenda other than getting to the truth.

PRESERVE INTEGRITY

If an accused person has the liberty to choose the detectives, jurors and judges in his case (as the prime minister is attempting to do), no one needs to "wonder" what the outcome will be. To preserve their personal integrity, those selected should decline. The PM, for transparency and fairness (and to protect himself from doing himself further damage) should delegate the appointments to a neutral body since he is the brains behind this whole bangarang.

WE WANT CLARITY

A strong Opposition is good for democracy. Good to see Mama P holding the PM accountable. I always maintained that I am a Jamaican, not a Labourite nor Socialist. I want both parties to be equally viable options for Jamaicans. Now it is time to hear and see the PNP vigorously pursue clarity and accountability on other issues.
