Where is the outrage?

THE EDITOR, Sir:

FOR DECADES, the people of Jamaica sat quietly and watched the increasing corruption, bloodshed and inept governments slowly drain the energy from our country. We must now ask ourselves what will it take to incite us to action. We watched as a previous government carried us to the brink of bankruptcy. Where was the outrage? We watched our educational and health systems deteriorate and said little. Where was the outrage?

Gross misconduct

We now have a new prime minister and government that attempted to negotiate a deal with the United States for a don which triggered one of the worst incidents of bloodshed in the country's history. There has been paltry investigation into the matter and few have been brought to justice.

We have politicians publicly associating with a man who has violated his probation. We have had a member of parliament who had to relinquish her seat because she flouted the Constitution of the country who is now again running for office with the approval of the prime minister. Where is the outrage? We have a contractor general who is under attack for asking contractors to register properly before being awarded government contracts. Is there no more decency left in our politics? Is there no shame? Where is the outrage?

I am, etc.,
