'Saturday Art-Time' still on for 2011
The National Gallery of Jamaica has announced that its Saturday Art-Time children's programme will be continuing in 2011, resuming on January 15.
Saturday Art-Time, which was first staged as a pilot programme in 2009, is the National Gallery's innovative Saturday-morning art programme for children and consists of a range of gallery-based art workshops for participants ranging from eight to 15 years old. The gallery invites children to go in and experience exciting visual-arts workshops in a fun, cultural and educational environment with gifted and capable art instructors.
The workshops, funded by the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education fund, will be held every Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the National Gallery. The workshops are free of cost but space is limited, so applicants are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Registration forms will be available at the National Gallery. For more information, contact the National Gallery's Education Department at 922-1561 or -3 (Lime landline) or 618-0654 or -5 (Digicel fixed line) or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
