Exclusion of Haitian players justifiable

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I agree, wholeheartedly, with the Government that we should have sent the Haitian Under-17 footballers back to their homeland.

We have a country to protect! Just like any other country, and believe me, if it was America, the disgrace for Haiti would have been catastrophic. Perhaps, a fine would have attended their return.

Jamaica is a smaller country than Haiti. What did they expect us to do? Keep them and treat them at our expense.

These people had malaria, and Haiti recently suffered a cholera outbreak. They deliberately came here sick. What the hell did they think we would do - hug them and get sick too? Well, I believe that Jamaica should attach a fine to the team's return to Haiti and confer on them the status persona non grata.

I am, etc.,
