Destination Downtown: Let the rebirth begin!

Published: Tuesday | March 15, 2011 Comments 0

Downtown Kingston is now undergoing a rebirth as several state and private-sector entities join forces in an attempt to create a commercial centre of First World standard.

The Kingston and St Andrew Corporation, the Urban Development Corporation, the National Works Agency and the Planning Institute of Jamaica are joining forces with entities such as the Kingston Restoration Company and Digicel to reshape downtown Kingston.

Over the next nine months, The Gleaner will seek to capture the rebirth - from the birthing pains through to final delivery. We will note and highlight every detail, underlining the achievements as the commercial and market district comes to life.

We will feature the good, the bad and the ugly things taking place in downtown Kingston.

The people who live, work, worship, play or study in the area will come in for special attention as The Gleaner takes you to 'Destination Downtown'.

You can be part of this development by sending your comments, questions and suggestions by email to downtown@gleanerjm.com.
