During the Lenten season, many persons amend their diet and become more health conscious. They exclude certain meats from their diet (usually red meat) and seafood becomes the protein of choice.

But this period of abstaining does not have to be painful, with you counting down the days.

Two of your favourite eateries are catering to your need with delicious offerings of the seafood variety.

Raffaele's Gourmet Pizza

Jamaica's favourite little pizzeria in Orchid Village plaza has added a new, delicious fish pizza to its menu for the Lenten season, chunks of fish sautéed in ginger and lemon pepper, topped with capers, sweet and sour onions and freshly chopped scallion. But this is just an addition to the delicious range of seafood dishes that are permanent staples on their menu.

Try the pizza al salmone - smoked salmon topped with capers, oregano and basil, or go for a straight vegetarian pizza.

And, if pizza is not your thing, their palermo scottato basso will definitely get your taste buds going. Pan-seared bass with a medley of sautéed vegetables and mashed potatoes topped with honey mustard.

In keeping with its Italian roots, there are pasta dishes that will be your perfect Lenten fare. Linguine ai Frutti di mare - medley of seafood in Alfredo sauce served with linguine pasta.

KFC

If you're a KFC fan there's no need to stop during Lent. Their Colonel's Catch Fish Sandwich is now a permanent item on the menu.

But now there is a new member of the iTwist family, just in time for Lent - the fish twister. It is two hot and spicy fish fillet strips with melted three-blend cheese, wrapped up with tomatoes, lettuce and mayo in a jumbo toasted tortilla.

Now that's finger lickin' good!
