Late is late

I am in total support of the decision of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) not to allow any school to enter the 2011 GraceKennedy-sponsored Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships because of late entries.

For too long, as a country, we have supported tardiness as an acceptable norm, be it from principals, students, the lateness of people to meetings, and the oftentimes late start of functions in Jamaica.

As we move towards making Jamaica a First-World country by 2030, we must not validate these kinds of behaviour. Let us never forget that we are building a nation and that the youth are looking up to us to make a difference. As such, let us learn from the experience and do better next year.

Thanks, ISSA, for standing up for positive values.
