Int'l showings expected to impress

Fashionblock is on again. And some will say thankfully.

The event, the signature item in the Saint International Styleweek Jamaica calendar, is notorious for many reasons, one being the 150-foot catwalk that takes over Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston.

But Fashionblock has never been just about the spectacle of the catwalk, or the Saint models who have earned international acclaim.

Fashionblock is also about the designers.

As the name Styleweek Jamaica suggests, the event focuses mainly on Jamaica designers, though there is certainly a distinct international appeal.

Today, Franchester Christie, Lisa McIntosh, Gregory Williams (HOD), Kadian Nicely, Nash, Peterina Lindsay, Tayana Cameron (Shades Of Africa), Nicolle (Nisha Swimwear), Sonia Foote, Spokes Apparel, Rick B's and Balla Shawn, make up the list of local designers set to show what they have to offer. They are local but their fashion is expected to be out of this world.

There are also international designers as well.

Indashio, well known for his wizardry with design, well depicted on VH1, is still the headline designer. He will be joined by Donovan Depass.
