United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will today reaffirm her nation's commitment to the region when she visits Montego Bay, St James, to meet with her Caribbean counterparts.

  • Munster guns taken to court

Some of the guns and ammunition allegedly stolen from the police armoury last year were tendered into evidence yesterday at the trial of police Sergeant Russell Robinson.

Robinson's trial began in the Gun Court, but it was agreed for the proceedings to be held at the Government Forensic Laboratory yesterday and today for the tendering of exhibits.

Supreme Court judge Horace Marsh is trying the case.

The Crown, represented by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Dirk Harrison, is alleging that Robinson, who worked at the police armoury, stole 18 firearms and 9,540 rounds of ammunition.

He is charged with illegal possession of the firearms and ammunition.

Robinson was held on Munster Road, Kingston 2, in February last year with guns belonging to the police armoury.

Three civilians who were charged in connection with the find pleaded guilty in the Gun Court. They were sentenced in September last year to prison terms ranging from 10-13 years.
