Policemen get bail in unrelated cases

TWO POLICEMEN appeared yesterday in the Gun Court and were each granted bail in the sum of $300,000 with sureties.

They are detective corporal Devon Miller, who is charged with illegal possession of ammunition, and Constable Samuel Howell, who is charged with robbery with aggravation.

Acting Supreme Court Judge Nicole Simmons granted the cops bail and ordered them to return to court on August 31.

The Crown is alleging that sometime this year, a quantity of assorted rounds of ammunition was found at Miller's home.

Howell is accused of robbing a merchant of cartons of cigarettes.

The merchant was on his way from the Norman Manley International Airport when he was stopped and robbed of the cigarettes, which were in the trunk of his motor car.

Investigations by the police led to Howell's arrest.
