The 60th anniversary banquet of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA) was recently celebrated at the Wyndham Kingston Hotel in New Kingston. It served as the culmination of a year of activities showcasing the work of the association over the last 60 years.
Many industry stakeholders, marketers, Government officials, union delegates, financial institutions, suppliers, customers and family were in attendance. As part of the activities, a mini trade show with participants from Tropical Battery, Wisynco, Beep Beep Tyres Ltd, Intcomex, Transaction E-Pins, LIME and the City Of Kingston Credit Union, was staged.
Master of ceremonies Michael Anthony Cuffe guided the programme and guest speaker was Clive Mullings, minister of mining and energy.
The JGRA used the opportunity to recognise contributors to the gasolene retail more than - namely employees with in excess of 20 years contribution; retailers with more than 30 years in the business and all surviving past presidents, the eldest - P.P. Winston Clarke, an 89-year-old from Morant Bay and grandson of Paul Bogle.
Industry award went to Petrojam. The family award was presented to the Coore family, and Retailer of the Year was Errol Edwards.
