Scotia Group Jamaica has tapped Lissant Mitchell as replacement head of its wealth arm Scotia Investments Jamaica Limited, a position he will transition into over the next month while Anya Schnoor packs for Canada.

The banking group said on Friday that Schnoor, who is also an executive vice-president of Scotia Group, would be assuming a developmental position in Toronto with parent Scotiabank Canada, but offered no explanation as to what as what the role entailed.

"Anya has contributed tremendously to the success of our business in Jamaica over the past five years. She led the integration of DB&G into Scotiabank Group and has overseen significant growth in the wealth management and insurance side of our business," said scotia Group president and CEO, Bruce Bowen in a prepared statement.

"As a global bank, our employees have access to opportunities in any of the 50 countries in which we operate. Anya's exposure to the broader capabilities of Scotiabank globally will prepare her for new opportunities in the future."

Mitchell, who is now the chief operating officer at Scotia Investments and a chief lieutenant to Schnoor, joined Scotia four years ago at a time when Schnoor was consolidating the wealth unit and building a new team. He joined the company in 2007, was promoted to COO last year, and assume the top job as CEO on November 1.

"I have great confidence in the entire Scotia Investments management team, and under Lissant's leadership expect that our wealth-management business will continue its track record of strong growth," Bowen said.
