Kartel lawyers unsure about statement recant
The uncertainty, according to Palmer's attorney, Christian Tavares-Finson, caused a judge in the Gun Court Division of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to issue an order yesterday directing police to check with the public defender's office to determine whether such a statement exists.
He said the judge also ordered that if the statement is found, it should be taken to court on October 26 when the case will again be mentioned.
This development scuttled plans by defence attorneys to seek bail for the entertainer.
"We don't know what is in the document ... it needs to be served on the defence so we can make a proper bail application for Mr Palmer," Tavares-Finson said.
